Stronger in the Struggle…

 Dear Friends

Please ind the introduction of the Newsletter from Mary Greaves

All of us, at one time or another, pass through seasons of difficulty. Illness, loss, financial worries, or the strain of daily life can weigh heavily on our hearts. In those moments, it is easy to feel alone. Yet the mystery of faith assures us that God is often closest when life is hardest. Scripture tells us: “The Lord is near to the brokenhearted and saves the crushed in spirit” (Psalm 34:18). The cross reminds us that suffering is real, but it also points us toward resurrection. What feels like an ending may, in God’s hands, become the seed of something new.

We see this truth lived out in our community. A family struggling with illness finding neighbours rallying around with meals, prayers, and encouragement. Someone facing redundancy discovering new gifts and finding  a new role that brings them joy and purpose. A widow, once feeling isolated, finding friendship and meaning by helping others.

These instances  remind us that trials, while painful, can draw out hidden strengths and deepen our sense of community. Difficult times often teach us compassion, patience, and resilience in ways that comfort never could.

So, if you are carrying burdens today, know that you do not walk alone. Christ journeys with you, step by step, even if His presence feels hidden. And your parish family stands beside you, ready to share the load.

Take heart: even in the darkest night, God’s light still shines. In His grace, struggles can become stepping stones to deeper faith, stronger bonds, and unexpected hope.

On Monday we have 9.00am Mass at the Shrine for the birthday of Our Lady. If you have not registered yet for the Silver Jubilee weekend, please find the details of hoe to register in this Newsletter
