The Third Sunday in Ordinary Time
Caritas Sunday of the Word of the Lord

Messages…

 Dear Friends

This Sunday we remember the work of Caritas in our diocese. It is also the Sunday of the Word of God. We are reminded of our call to embody God’s love through care and compassion for the poor. The Word of God challenges us not only to tend to those who lack material wealth but also to comfort and uplift those who are poor in spirit.

The “poor” Jesus speaks of are not just those who lack material wealth but also those deprived of hope, opportunity, and dignity. The call to bring good news to them compels us to address systemic poverty, create equitable opportunities, and extend compassion.

Freedom for the oppressed remains a pressing issue. Modern oppression may take the form of racism, human trafficking, or authoritarian regimes. Standing against these injustices, whether by raising awareness, supporting grassroots movements, or using our voices to demand change, aligns with Christ’s example.

Spiritual blindness is also prevalent today. Many are searching for meaning, lost in a world of distractions. By embodying Christ’s love and living with authenticity, believers can help others see the transformative power of faith.

By carrying forward His message of love, justice, and hope, we become modern reflections of His ministry, bringing light to a world still in need of His transformative touch. Mary Greaves
