Dear Friends
When Pope Francis introduced the Holy Year 2025 he did so by inviting us to become more and more Pilgrims of Hope and Builders of Peace. He invited us to take this year 2024 as a year of preparation and to become a “symphony of Prayer”. He suggested that we take the Lord’s prayer as the centre of this preparation. Joseph Pieter reminds us that when St Thomas Aquinas was writing about the Theological Virtues of Faith Hope and Charity he said that the central prayer of Hope is in the Our Father.
Brian Stocks and Sheila Lyddieth invite us to four meditations on the Our Father.
Brian writes:
The holy hours on the Our Father
start next Saturday 14th September at 1pm in the Shrine at St John Fisher’s Kearsley for the first holy hour
In this first gathering we will focus on the petitions from Our Father to Thy Will Be Done.
The second Holy hour is on Saturday 12th October at 1pm the mediations will focus on the petitions Give us our daily bread to Deliver us from evil
The third Holy hour is on Saturday 9th November at 1pm the mediations will focus the Our Father and Holy Souls and loved ones who have passed away
The final Holy hour will be on Saturday 14th December at 1pm the mediations will focus on the Our Father from a Marian perspective as we will be in Advent
Father, could you let people know via the group email system and extend our invitation for them to join us in this time of preparation for the Holy Year initiating our way together as Pilgrims of Hope and Builders of Peace.
Kind regards God Bless Brian Stocks and Sheila Lyddieth
