Covenant Mass on Mother’s Day

by Fr. Bryan Cunningham on 13/03/2012

Water Colour Of the Shrine from Alois Ziegler

Sunday March 18th   2012 at 7.30pm at St John Fisher’s Schoenstatt Centre

Welcome to our Covenant Mass in March. This Covenant Mass falls on the 4th Lenten Sunday, Mother’s Day. Grateful to our own mothers and all they have done for us we want to consider the great gift to us of Mary, Mother of the Lord

Throughout this year we celebrate the gift of the Shrine as a place of Grace. During this Mass we consider a question put by Father Kentenich: “What is the price that has to be paid if the Blessed Mother is to descend here (the Shrine)? Contributions to the capital of grace! We have personally to become living stones (of this Shrine)!” (JK)

Monday Night with Jeff Randell

by Fr. Bryan Cunningham on 31/03/2011

World seen from spaceJust listening to an hour of economic news and I learned three new words: frictional unemployment, webbinar and cloud computing. Frictional unemployment explains the heartache and uncertainty many people are undergoing at the moment. It does not compare with the wave of destruction in Japan nor with the uncertainty of tenure of life in North Africa but it is very real to many people who will be left behind in the country’s time of recovery. (In the eighties we had structural unemployment which left an enormous number of young people unemployable because we had a country undergoing tremendous change and not all could get on board.) Young people have these issues as real questions which effect their lives directly. Will I get a job? Can I afford to go to university? It leads them to the deeper questions they have to answer as life’s questions: Who am I and why am I here? Will I meet the love of my life and is there somewhere I can make a difference?

Early as it was – some MORE actually came

by Benedikt Thießen on 25/03/2011

28 people joined us this morning during our Lenten Retreat Mass (which takes place on every Friday in the time of Lent). Even from india people joined us via online stream.

Video from the steram:

The theme of today and this week in the retreat is (God) The Father in my life. This theme found great resonance with those gathered – it’s not easy to transmit such a lot of information so early in the morning – so I have decided to attach a talk that Fr. Duncan gave us a couple of weeks ago about the importance and thinking of the idea of Fathers and Fatherhood from Fr. Kentenich. This weeks material is also available for downlaod.

For the Retreat Material for Week 2 – click here (coming soon….)

The Father – Small Lenten Retreat – Part II

by Fr. Andrew Pastore on 22/03/2011

Part II – God the Father in my Life

Lent is an important time of the year for each one of us and for the Church. Resolutions are an aspect of the time… but what can we do to focus our energy on the religious in the middle of a busy program.

Lent is a good time for a Retreat – not easy in the middle of the working week – but why not try a “Retreat in the world”.

We will be offering a Mass on the Friday mornings of Lent at 6am at the Shrine – well before working time (and there is tea and toast afterwards). If you can’t join us in the Shrine – why not follow the mass on the Internet (http://schoenstatt-tv.de/EN/Livestream.html) - the mass will be repeated their during the day…

At the mass there will be an input and you can receive material to focus your lenten journey for the coming week (if you are there – pick it up / on the web – we will send you and e-mail / don’t have e-mail – we’ll use the trusty post).

For further details contact Fr. Andrew

Masses on Friday,  March 18th and 25th, April 1st (no joke), 8th and 15th.

Early as it was – some actually came…

by Fr. Andrew Pastore on 18/03/2011

Bronze relief of Fr. Kentenich's handThe Small lenten Retreat began this morning in the Shrine and on the Web. At 6 O’Clock a small group gathered in the Shrine to begin the reatreat. The technology worked without a hitch – we think… What more could we ask for – well tea and toast – and voila…

Many thanks to all who came – we had a lovely mass together on this covenant day.

In the Sermon we thought of Fr. Kenentich who took the time to find God’s will in silence. St. Joseph was a good example for him and for us. At the beginning of our lenten journey we want to seek that silence (the daily exercise in the retreat) and list to God’s word.

If you want to follow the retreat program you can download the PDF version - click here.

If you want to print the booklet out – click here for a collated version.

Sorry to those who looked on this site for the live feed – next week we will add a link for you.

Well – hope you can join in the retreat in your way – looking forward to next week already.
