Covenant Mass Monday 18th September 2017

by Fr. Bryan Cunningham on 14/09/2017

Welcome to our Covenant Mass on Monday 18th September 2017 at 7.30pm at the Shrine. This celebration will be our final before we crown Our Lady on October 1st this year. We see each one of us as a jewel in the crown of our Lady – ‘you are precious in my eyes’. We crown Mary our Queen so that she will care for us and we can unite ourselves with her in pursuing her share in the interests of her Son, namely building God’s Kingdom and welcoming all to find their way to the heart of the Father. We want to become missionary disciples of the covenant of love, reaching out to many so that each may find their way home to the Father. Mary is invited to be queen of our homes and our families.

In 1968 Father Kentenich, the founder of Schoenstatt died  in the sacristy just after saying Mass in the church of the Blessed Trinity in Schoenstatt. During this coming year we want to look at how Father Kentenich wanted us to be apostles for our time, instruments in Mary’s hands, wining the world for Christ. Our women’s group are preparing the Mass. We look forward to seeing you.

Taste and See Family Mass in February

by Fr. Bryan Cunningham on 09/02/2016

You are invited at the beginning of the Lenten Season to join us for the Family Mass at the Shrine on Sunday 14th February at 3.30pm. Our theme for this Mass is two of the Corporal works of Mercy: Clothe the Naked & Shelter the Homeless. We will start at 3.30pm with holy Mass and afterward share supper with one another. Please also remember to bring donations for our foodbank. Look forward to seeing you. On the one hand it is Valentine’s Day and we hope that you have the chance to share signs of love for one and other in your family. It is the First Sunday in Lent and each of us is invited to join in the Lenten Pilgrimage to Easter.  “God, who is rich in mercy, out of the great love with which he loved us, even when we were dead through our trespasses, made us alive together with Christ.” (Eph 2:4f)

Taste and See Family Mass in January

by Fr. Bryan Cunningham on 08/01/2016

Taste and See  Mass on Sunday 10th January 2016 at 3.30pm . This Mass, prepared by our Taste and See Team together with Fr Bryan is especially for families with young children. This year we Celebrate the Year of Mercy. Our Shrine is one of the five doors of mercy in the Salford Diocese and was blessed with all the Doors of Mercy throughout the world on December 13th 2015. Our journey to the Taste and See Mass is a pilgrimage to the “Holy Door”.  Throughout this year wi will  consider the Works of Mercy and consider the Works of Mercy: Jesus Christ is the face of the Father’s mercy. Feed the hungry & Give drink to the thirsty. Please come along to our Mass and join together in our programme and shared supper after holy Mass. You are invited to bring a contribution to our food-bank including winter woolies. We look forward to seeing you at the beginning of this New Year.

Taste and See Mass in November

by Fr. Bryan Cunningham on 24/10/2015

You are invited to the Taste and See Family Mass on Sunday 8th November at 3.30pm at the Shrine, St John Fisher’s Kearsley. After Mass we have input and a programme for the children. We conclude with a shared meal. Throughout this year we have considered the mission of the family especially today. Love is our mission – the family fully alive! Central to the mission of family is the formation of the children and the development of a family atmosphere in our homes. We learn that we belong in a family and our home is determined by the people we love and care for. This belongs to one of the top values we experience in family. The secure and sacred space of family allows us to grow in a network  of personal bonds. We learn to value these bonds of love and how to develop our own network of those we love and care for. Anchored in love we are ready to go out and help many searching to build up the web of love in their own lives. This month and next we would be grateful if your donations for the ‘food bank’ was not food but  took the form of socks and gloves to keep the homeless warmer this winter. Thank you. I look forward to seeing you.
