Second Lenten Covenant Mass on Sunday18th March

by Fr. Bryan Cunningham on 07/03/2018

The Mount Carmel Group welcome you to our second Covenant Mass in Lent on Sunday 18th March at 7.30pm at the Shrine. In the old calendar this was know as ‘Passion Sunday’ intensifying our preparation for the celebration of the mysteries of the Lord’s death and resurrection. We hear from Jeremiah: The days are coming, says the LORD, when I will make a new covenant with the house of Israel and the house of Judah.

We long for the new Covenant in Christ and want to become missionary disciples of the covenant of love. In the face of his passion Our Lord prayed: Father glorify your name.  Our troubled heats can distract us from the path to Christ. He wishes to give us peace for the soul. St Edmund’s group will assist us with music and we invite you to bring donations of non-perishable good for our food bank.We look forward to seeing you with your family and friends.

Taste and See Mass on Mothers’ Day

by Fr. Bryan Cunningham on 07/03/2018

All our mothers are invited to join with their families and celebrate Taste and See Family Mass at the Shrine this Sunday 11th March 2018. We begin with Mass at 3.30pm and will conclude with a shared meal. We give thanks for our mothers and ask God to reward them for the good they do because they love. Our Holy Father encourages us to listen to the ‘Gospel of the Family’

(Family) is the path along which the history of salvation progresses… The triune God is a communion of love, and the family is its living reflection. The aim of Church teaching is “to present marriage more as a dynamic path to personal development and fulfilment than as a lifelong burden”  If the parents are in some sense the foundations of the home, the children are like the “living stones” of the family.  Here too, we can see another aspect of the family. We know that the New Testament speaks of “churches that meet in homes”.  A family’s living space could turn into a domestic church, a setting for the Eucharist, the presence of Christ seated at its table.

Taste and See Family Mass in February

by Fr. Bryan Cunningham on 07/02/2018

You are invited with family and friends to Taste and See Family Mass of the year at the Shrine on Sunday 11th February 2018 starting with Mass at 3.30pm and followed by a shared meal and time to chat. One book about Father Kentenich calls him ‘Mary’s Prophet’. His charism was to raise our  awareness of the special role Our Lady plays in God’s entire plan of salvation. As Mother of the Lord Mary shows us the way to follow her Son closely. And Mary is closest to him on his journey and always there to assist him in his mission to win the world for the Father.  Please also bring a donation for our food and clothes bank. Thank you.  Looking forward to seeing you next Sunday

Covenant Mass in October

by Fr. Bryan Cunningham on 17/10/2017

You are invited to our Covenant Mass in October, tomorrow, Wednesday 18th October at 7.30pm at the Shrine. Our Mount Carmel Group are preparing this Mass with remembers the beginnings of Schoenstatt on 18th October 1914 and follows the renewal of the Walsingham Crowning of our Lady as Schoenstatt Queen of England and as Queen of the Family. Our homes become little shrines, in the Second Vatican Council they spoke of domestic church; each home a place of grace and school of sanctity in everyday life. Theme of the Covenant Mass is taken from Pope Francis’ letter on the joy of love in the family and refers to the depth of our relationship which can become a strong network of personal support and for you to give support in solidarity and mutual care to others. We cannot simply log-in or block at will like we can do in social media. We look forward to seeing you there. Please bring a donation for our food and clothes bank.
