A Great Lady has gone Home

by Fr Duncan McVicar on 04/09/2015 -

We received the sad news that Father Bryan’s dear mother Cathy has been called home to the Lord. Cathy died peacefully at home with her family in the early hours of Thursday morning. Father Bryan was able to celebrate the Holy Mass with her and the family at her bedside before she died. Fortified by the Sacraments, she has returned home to the Father. Cathy was well known by many of our Schoenstatt Families in Scotland and in England. She was a great lady of faith with a deep and tangible love for her family, who cared for her and treasured her till the very last moment. She leaves a big vacuum behind and she will be sadly missed by all who knew her and loved her. I’m sure our Blessed Lady will take her with pride to the throne of the Eternal Father in heaven. The Requiem Mass for Cathy Cunningham will be on Wednesday, 9th September – 12.30pm at: St. Bartholomew’s Church, 1 Trent St, Coatbridge ML5 2NT. Then Burial to follow at: Old Monkland Cemetery, Woodside St, Coatbridge ML5 5AH. Family and friends are gathering after the Funeral at: The Bank Social Club, 110 Dundyvan Rd, Coatbridge ML5 1DE. Please remember Cathy in your thoughts and prayers and light a candle for a great lady who has gone home. May she rest in peace and rise in glory!

Cathy Donnelly says:

Dear Father Duncan,

My name is Cathy Donnelly – Catherine Louise, after my wee Granny Cunningham. Joe and Cecilia are my mum and dad.

I just wanted to thank you, and give my appreciation and praise, to the beautiful post you wrote about my wee granny. It was truly heartfelt, and made me feel happy when you described her as being able to rest in peace, and rise in glory.

Thank you so much.

Cathy Donnelly
