Bishop Brain will bless the Mosaic Prayer Garden. After many years of preparation the Mosaic, a meditation on the Dachau Prayers of Schoenstatt’s Founder Father Joseph Kentenich has been completed by Paul Cooper.
Over 64,00 prayers and sacrifices were offered up in the Shrine for each of the small mosaic stones in petition to Our Lady that our Shrine be a place of pilgrimage grace for many. There will be a Blessing Ceremony by the Bishop of Salford on Sunday 21st September starting at 3.00pm followed by a family celebration. Paul Cooper could be on site as the local tradesman from Bolton, ‘Steve’ Alan Wild, showed the skill of his craft in laying the Mosaic. It was really a window of opportunity including the weather. Learning by doing: After laying the first two panels Steve had already developed technique and showed simple practical genius in his trade. Helen Smythe from St Ethelbert’s Parish, Bolton who had advised Paul on the Mosaic and accompanied him in the process was also on-site to see this work in progress.
Now the Mosaic team will prepare the celebration for September and also a souvenir meditation and prayer booklet for visitors to the Mosaic Prayer Garden. All are welcome. Those coming to the Schoenstatt Hearts Afire Talk tonight (Wednesday 2nd July at 7.30pm ) will have the first chance to view this beautiful work of skill and prayer. Please come along and take the chance to go on pilgrimage to the Mosaic Prayer Garden and the Shrine.
