Dear Friends this year we have two Covenant Masses in Lent – maybe like a ‘blue moon’. We could take the lenten resolution to attend both this year. You are welcome to join us tomorrow night, Sunday 18th February at 7.30pm. Our University Students are preparing the Mass and St Edmund’s group will play for Mass. In his Lenten Message this year Pope Francis reminds us of a Word from St Matthew: “Because of the increase of iniquity, the love of many will grow cold” (Mt 24:12). He goes on to explain “In his description of hell, Dante Alighieri pictures the devil seated on a throne of ice, in frozen and loveless isolation. We might well ask ourselves how it happens that charity can turn cold within us. What are the signs that indicate that our love is beginning to cool?” Perhaps our Lenten Journey as missionary apostles of the Covenant of Love can be to bring warmth into the lives of those feeling cold and to ask the Holy Spirit to reach out to those whose heart is in danger of freezing over. Please come along and bring family and friends with you. We will also collect donations for our clothes and food bank
Today we are invited to ‘Rejoice in the Lord always…’ The Third Sunday in Advent sounds the bell of devoted joy – undivided in heart we turn to God in the great expectation of the gift of the Child Jesus in the stable at Bethlehem andon our Advent journey we await in hope the fullness of time. In the octave before Christmas we celebrate Covenant Mass tomorrow, Monday 18th December 2017 and we would like to invite you to Mass at the Shrine at 7.30pm followed by our Advent Christmas celebration. You are welcome to bring a donation for our food and clothes bank. We look forward to seeing you at this Mass prepared by the Mount Carmel group and led by the St Edmund’s music group.
You are invited to the October Day on Sunday 1st October at the Shrine. You can arrive any time after 12.00 noon and bring a packed lunch with you. Holy Mass will be at 1.30pm followed by our afternoon programme which includes a programme for children. Bishop Arnold, Bishop of Salford, is expected by about 4.30pm and we will celebrate crowning our Lady in the Shrine with him. For more details click here. We look forward to seeing you on the day
Covenant Mass will be on Tuesday 18th July at 7.30pm at the Shrine and you are invited. Fr Pushpa will be the main celebrant and this will be his final Covenant Mass before leaving for the USA where he will be working with the Schoenstatt Family there.
We are preparing to crown Our Lady as Schoenstatt Queen of England and renew the pledge of loyalty taken on pilgrimage to Walsingham thirty year ago. Each household, all our families want to become the jewel in Mary’s crown and we want our Mother Mary to become the jewel in each of our home shrines . We look forward to seeing you as we journey towards this renewal on October Day, the blessing day anniversary of our Shrine on Sunday 1st October 2017. where we all be joined by our Bishop John Arnold.
Please come along with your family and bring a donation for our food and clothes bank.
Tomorrow is our Covenant Mass celebration and you are invited. Deepening our Covenant of Love means to see one another in our greatness. Pope Francis says in his letter on the joy of love in the family: The love of friendship is called “charity” when it perceives and esteems the “great worth” of another person. Beauty – that “great worth” which is other than physical or psychological appeal – enables us to appreciate the sacredness of a person, without feeling the need to possess it. In a consumerist society, the sense of beauty is impoverished and so joy fades.
Our Joy is knowing we belong to the family of God and help built a home in which love is at the heart. Please come along and join us for Mass at 7.30pm on Thursday 18th May at 7.30pm. Please bring donations for our food bank.
